The Huayhuash Trek 12 Days is one of the most spectacular and challenging trekking circuits in the world, offering breathtaking views of towering snow-capped peaks, turquoise glacial lakes, and remote Andean valleys. This epic adventure takes you deep into the Cordillera Huayhuash, where you will cross multiple high-altitude passes above 4,500 m (14,764 ft) and witness some of the most stunning alpine scenery on the planet.
This trek is perfect for experienced hikers seeking a true wilderness experience, as the route passes through isolated landscapes and traditional Quechua villages, far from the crowds. Along the way, you’ll enjoy close-up views of legendary peaks like Yerupajá (6,617 m), Siula Grande (featured in “Touching the Void”), Jirishanca, and Rondoy.
We start the day at 7 am picking up the clients from their accommodations then we go to the base camp of CUATELHUAIN 4180 masl where the first camp will be but before we will make a break in the town of CHIQUIAN 3400 masl where we will make a break to get to know the picturesque town and also have the opportunity to eat some food then we continue with the transport to the base camp of CACANANPUNTA 4180 masl where our first camp will be
We start the day at 5 am bringing hot drinks to their personal tents to wake up after organizing the personal things that the mules will carry we will have breakfast then we will start the 10 km walk to the second camp called JANCA 4200 masl
Place where we will have the wonderful view of the JIRISHANCA glacier 6200 masl APPROXIMATE and also the blue waters of the Mitucocha lagoon
At 5 am we will take a hot mate to your personal tents to wake you up and organize all the equipment that will go on the mules then we will meet to have breakfast after breakfast we begin the 10 km walk to the second camp called CARHUACOCHA 4180 masl it will undoubtedly be one of the most beautiful days in the mountain range because we will go along an alpine route where we will see the highest mountains in the mountain range and also the viewpoint of the 5 lagoons we will end the day camping on the shore of the CARHUACOCHA lagoon
After breakfast we begin the walk towards the next camp called HUAYHUASH 4370 masl, there will be 14 km of wonderful views such as the viewpoint of the three lagoons together and the largest and most famous mountains of the mountain range. This will be the day where we will see many lagoons of different colors.
After breakfast we begin the walk towards the next camp, for many the most anticipated day because it will be 12 kilometers of a view full of glaciers, lagoons and the famous hot springs of GUÑOC, very appreciated since after the walk we will be able to take a very restorative hot bath.
After breakfast we begin the hike to the next camp called PAMPACUYOC. It will be a special day because it will be the day we cross the first 5,000 meter high pass and we will also be able to visit the SAN ANTONIO PASS 5,010 meters above sea level, which is considered the most beautiful point of the mountain range.
After breakfast we begin the hike to the next camp called HUAYLLAPA 3,500 meters above sea level, but first we will hike 21 km through the CUTATAMBO valley, one of the most beautiful valleys in the mountain range, full of impressive views, as you can see the opposite side of all the glaciers we had seen the previous days. We will also be on the shores of the JURAO lagoon, one of the largest lagoons in the mountain range.
After breakfast we begin the hike to the next camp called HUAYLLAPA 3,500 meters above sea level, but first we will hike 21 km through the CUTATAMBO valley, one of the most beautiful valleys in the mountain range, full of impressive views, as you can see the opposite side of all the glaciers we had seen the previous days. We will also be on the shores of the JURAO lagoon, one of the largest lagoons in the mountain range.
HUAYLLAPA is a town of about 300 peasant inhabitants, it is a strategic point since there you can find different services such as: hotel, electricity, hot shower, shops where you can get drinks, chocolates, fruits, internet coverage
Then After breakfast we begin the hike to the next camp called GASHPAPAMPA. It will be a very different day from the others, as there are more trees in the landscape and the glaciers can be seen closer. It will be an 11 km day. We will go to a strategic point where we will be able to see the Huallanca mountain range and the Cordillera Blanca.
After breakfast we begin the hike towards the next camp called JAHUACOCHA 4010 masl. It will be 9 km of impressive views as we will walk along an alpine route where we will have a panoramic view of the highest mountains in the mountain range (the back of the mountains seen on the first day) and we will finish with the impressive view of the PUCAPUCA viewpoint 4800 masl (a paradise of nature).
After breakfast we begin the walk towards the town of LLAMAC where we will finish the walk and take a private vehicle to return to the city of Huaraz but first we will stop in the town of CHIUQUIAN for lunch
We finish by taking the clients to their respective accommodations.
