The Huayhuash Trek 9 Days is an unforgettable adventure through the spectacular Cordillera Huayhuash in Peru, considered one of the most beautiful trekking circuits in the world. This high-altitude trek takes you across remote Andean valleys, turquoise glacial lakes, and mountain passes above 4,500 meters, with incredible views of famous peaks such as Yerupajá, Siula Grande, and Jirishanca.
We start the day with pickup from our clients’ accommodations, then head to the CUARTELHUAIN base camp at 4170 m. Upon arrival at base camp, we will have time to get organized and then begin the 10 km hike to the first camp, JANCA at 4200 m (Mitucocha).
It will be a very relaxing day as we will have spectacular views. We will take several breaks, including a lunch break halfway through the hike, totaling 10 km.
The second day we start at 5:30 am each client will receive a cup with coca mate or another drink to wake up then they will have some time to organize personal things, we will also have time to have breakfast starting the walk we will go to the second camp CARHUACOCHA 4170 m it will be a wonderful day since we will walk along a ridge very close to the largest glaciers of this mountain range such as JERUPAGRANDE 6670 meters above sea level SIULA GRANDE 6344 meters above sea level and more we will also have the opportunity to see lagoons of different colors and a famous viewpoint of the 4 lagoons arriving at the camp we will be able to see the CARHUACOCHA lagoon next to our camp a place where some will be able to swim total 11 km
After breakfast we begin the walk to the HUAYHUASH camp at 3370 m. It will be one of the most anticipated days because along the way we will see the glaciers very close to us and in total we will see 7 lagoons on this day including the famous viewpoint of three lagoons. We will also see the HUAYHUAS glacier massif (called that way by the locals in the area) total 14 km.
After breakfast we begin the walk to the fourth camp VICONGA (hot springs) it will be a super picturesque and fun day since this day we will walk towards the hot springs a super beautiful place in the middle of the mountain we will have the opportunity to take a hot bath in any of the 4 pools that are in this place you can also buy drinks like sodas or beers and as always on our journey there will be many glacial peaks and we will be able to see the largest lagoon in this mountain range total 12 km
After breakfast we begin the walk towards the fifth camp PAMPA CUYUC it will be a spectacular day since it will be a short day and we will have the opportunity to see a large part of the mountain range from a privileged place where we will have a panoramic view of the mountain range and its giant snow-capped peaks arriving at the camp we will have lunch and then those who are willing to go to the San Antonio viewpoint will be able to go to see the most beautiful point of the mountain range according to the mountain magazines then we will return to the camp to be able to rest total 10 km
After breakfast we start the walk to the sixth camp HUAYLLAPA 3500 m this will be a special day since we will be able to see the most beautiful point of the mountain range Paso San Antonio (also called Santa Rosa) it will be a total walk of 21 km to Huayllapa this is a town halfway through the expedition here you will be able to continue with hotel, hot shower, wifi, chocolates, drinks and more total 21 km
After breakfast we start the walk to the GASHPAPAMPA 4600 camp. It will be a different day since in the area we will see many trees. On the way we will be able to see the locals and the daily activities they do and several glacier peaks. Total 11 km.
After breakfast we head to the camp called JAHUACOCHA, you could say it is a paradise in the middle of the Andes since the contrast of colors of the mountains and the panoramic viewpoint is spectacular. Arriving at the camp we will have the option of walking around this lagoon or taking a bath in this lagoon total 11 km
After breakfast, we begin the walk to the town of LLAMAC. This town is where transportation will be waiting for us to return to the city of Huaraz. Before that, at noon, we will stop in the town of CHIQUIAN to have lunch in a restaurant and enjoy its beautiful main square.
Upon arrival in Huaraz, each client will be taken to their accommodation. The total distance is 14 km.
